The Tapersticks are cast and stand on a shaped foot decorated with a gadrooned band.  The base rises to a baluster shaped shaft and is decorated with lobed flutes in sizes.  The shaft is also decorated with gadrooning and lobes.  The pull off nozzles also have a shaped edge, echoing the unusual base design.  Both are in quite excellent condition and are fully marked in the base, which is also engraved with a contemporary Crest.  The Tapersticks are modelled in a very unusual design which was peculiar to the workshops of John Carter.  John Carter was a specialist candlestick maker who was supplying Parker and Wakelin with candlesticks as early as 1769.  He had workshops in Westmorland Buildings when these rare pieces were made.  A very unusual and desirable design.

Height: 6.5 inches, 16.25 cm.
