The Pail is of a slightly tapering form and has a gadrooned rim and twisted ropework arched handle. The sides of the main body are divided into separate vertical pails which are pierced and engraved with foliate scroll work and stylised flower heads. The front displays a vacant shaped cartouche.  The Pail has a blue glass liner and is fully marked on the base. Francis Spilsbury II made some of the finest pierced items at this date and had a reputation for fine quality workmanship.  He occupied workshops at 24, Gutter Lane when this piece was made.

Height to the rim: 2.2 inches, 5.5 cm.

Height to the top of the handle: 4 inches, 10 cm.

Diameter at the rim: 2.85 inches, 7.13 cm.
