A very rare George III Tea Caddy made in London in 1777 by William Vincent.

The Tea Caddy is of rectangular form and is beautifully engraved on each side with outer borders of bright cut and prick dot designs. The front of the Tea Caddy displays a vacant oval bright cut cartouche, with ribbons above, tied with paterae. The cover also displays a cast finial modelled as a sprig from a tea plant. The Caddy is fully marked on the base and with the makers mark and sterling mark on the cover. This is the first time we have seen a Caddy of this form and size and conclude that it may have been for travelling.
