The Tray stands on four cast feet decorated with bat wing fluting flanked by scrolls. The main body is modelled in a smaller oval form and the stepped raised rim is decorated with gadrooning. The two side handles are also decorated with gadrooning and acanthus leaf mouldings where they are attached to the main body. The centre of the Tray is engraved with a contemporary Armorial, with Crest and the motto "Virtutis Gloria Merces" above. The Arms, Crest and Motto are those of the Clan Robertson of Stowan, County Perth, Chief of the Clan.
The Tray is of a rare smaller size and would be ideal for serving two or three glasses, as well as canapes or sandwiches etc.
