The Vinaigrette is of the parcel gilt variety which displays both silver and gilding in the decoration. The box has serpentine shaped sides and the cover and base display a variety of different designs of engine turning, scrolls and floral sprays. The sides are also decorated with engine turning and display a cast thumb piece. The base also displays a vacant gold shield shaped cartouche. The interior is finely gilded and displays a grille pierced and engraved with flower heads and foliate scrolls. The box is very well marked and displays a Queens Head Duty Mark on the underside of the grille. This is also the first time we have seen this design on a box of this size, from these very fine quality makers.
