A rare George III "Friendship" Vinaigrette made in Birmingham in 1810 by Matthew Linwood.

The Vinaigrette is of rounded rectangular form, the base with prick dot engraved border and vacant oval cartouche. The lid engraved with bands of prick dot and bright-cut engraved roundels, the legend "L'Amitie" (good wishes / friendship) to a central band with reeded background.   The silver gilt interior with a hinged faux filigree type grille with beaded border, displaying a stylised central heart motifs.  This example is very well marked and is in excellent condition.
