The Helmet Milk Jug is of a large size, was made by the Royal maker John Schofield and is modelled in the Neo-Classical tradition. The Jug stands on a square stepped pedestal foot which is decorated with an oval band of laurel leaves and berries. The vase shaped main body rises to a reeded rim and is decorated with a lower band of acanthus leaves and an upper band of laurels and berries, as shown on the foot. The Jug has a reeded loop handle, attached to the main body with an flame moulding, and the front is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The Jug is in excellent condition and is fully marked in the foot. The Jug is a most unusual design and the quality is exceptional, as would be expected from the workshops of this Royal maker.
