The Chamberstick has a circular base, engraved with a contemporary Crest, which rises to a reeded rim.  The large ring handle has an oval disc thumbpiece attached to it and the central shaft is of an unusually tall form, with three horizontal girdles.  This is a design which is very seldom seen and would have provided a higher flame for the grander houses with the highest ceilings, or even on board a ship.  The detachable nozzle also has a reeded rim and all pieces are in excellent condition.  The Chamberstick is fully marked on the base and with the maker's mark, sterling mark and duty mark on the sleeve of the nozzle.  We have only been able to find one other example of this very rare design in our research.
