This rare label is silver gilt and cast, being modelled in the unusual festooned drapery form. The central fringe drape with raised letters for SHERRY on a matted ground, surrounded by festoons of fruiting vines and surmounted by a ribbon bow. This piece is complete with a heavy large gauge belcher chain. The label is in excellent condition and is very well marked. This design was first produced by Paul Storr in 1806, however examples are seldom seen.
John Bridge was a partner in the Royal Goldsmiths; Rundell, Bridge & Rundell and was appointed Royal Goldsmith as early as 1797. His Royal status is denoted by the crown above his maker's mark, also shown on this label.
