The Taperstick stands on a raised square base, with sunken well, decorated with gadrooning. The tapering facetted baluster shaped stems are decorated with gadrooning and linear bands. The circular detachable nozzles are also decorated with gadrooning. The Taperstick is in quite excellent condition, with an excellent colour, and is very well marked in the foot. This is a uncommon style to find in the smaller taperstick form. A near identical pair, by John Cafe and dated 1761, are contained within the collection of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
