The caddy spoon is modelled in the very rare Scallop Shell form and is cast. The back of the spoon is finely modelled and textured to simulate the surface of the shell and the interior also copies, beautifully, the interior of a scallop shell. The attention to detail is quite outstanding and the quality extremely fine, being of a very good gauge and weight. The top section is engraved with the contemporary script initials A and H in typical Georgian script, on each ear. Considering its size, it has a length of 2.1 inches and a width of 2.1 inches, at its widest point. The Caddy Spoon is unmarked however we date it circa 1820 (agreeing with Captain Norie) and was almost certainly made in London. The engraving is certainly Georgian in style and both a front and back view can be seen in the book Plate 98, row c.
Length: 2.1 inches.
Width, at the widest point: 2.1 inches.
