A very fine & unusual set of three early George III Casters made in London in 1764 by the specialist caster maker, John Delmester.

The Casters stand on cast circular spreading feet which are decorated with scrolls and wheat ears. The pronounced baluster shaped bodies are decorated with beautiful raised scroll work, swirling wheat ears and foliate bands. The front of each main body shows a Rococo cartouche of shell details, scrolls and flower heads surrounding a contemporary unicorn Crest issuing from a Mural Coronet. The high domed covers terminate in a writhen cast finial and are pierced with swirling bands of quatrefoil and foliate designs. Each piece is fully marked in the foot and with the makers mark and sterling mark on the cover. The casters are in excellent crisp condition and are also of a very good weight. John Delmester was a specialist in this area and made nothing but casters. He was apprentice to the famous Samuel Wood.
