This fine piece is of an unusual larger size and is modelled as a milk maids pail.  The sides are pierced all over with quatrefoil designs and the dipping rim is decorated with cording.  The front displays a circular disc shaped cartouche engraved with a contemporary Crest.  The arched handle is pierced and chased with raying flower heads.  This piece is in quite excellent condition and is fully marked on the base.

Aldridge and Green were very fine silversmiths who specialised in the production of pierced baskets, wine coasters and mustard pots.  This is modelled in a scarce design and very unusual size.

Height to the rim: 3.3 inches, 8.25 cm.

Height to the top of the arched handle: 5.2 inches, 13 cm.

Diameter at the rim: 3.75 inches, 9.38 cm.
