The cover and base are beautifully modelled and engraved with a corrugated surface to simulate bound bamboo which is considered to be one of his rarer designs. The cover opens up to reveal breathtaking gilding and one of Linwood's trademark cast grilles, which simulates filigree. The filigree centre, beautifully depicts a heart shaped motif and is surrounded by a beaded frame. This piece is in quite exceptionally crisp, original, condition and is very well marked. This design is considered rare and is illustrated in Eric Delieb's "Silver Boxes".
