The fine skewers have very unusual button ends, with incuse sides, the first time we have seen this design. Each have a slender form and are engraved with a contemporary initial "G" below the Coronet of an Earl. Surprisingly there were very few Earls, at this date, with the initial G. These being Guilford, Grosvenor, Grey, Galloway, Glasgow and Gosford. Each is very well marked and have lengths ranging from 7.5 inches to 7.9 inches. The Skewers are a very good guage and are in excellent condition. William Aldridge is a very scarce maker and was registered as a small worker in 1768. He worked from premises in Brook Street when these Skewers were made. It is remarkable that these skewers have stayed together over all of the years.
Length: 7.5 - 7.9 inches.
