The Almanac Cover is modelled as a book with reeded gold side to simulate the spine of the book, as well as a gold fastening clasp.  The two beautiful malachite covers are surrounded by a frame of two colour gold foliate motifs, flanked by beading.  The cover contains an almanac printed for the Company of Stationers in 1812.  Almanacs were used by the wealthy and aristocracy to remind them of monthly holidays and religious festivals, it also contained a calendar, list of Lord Mayor's and Sheriffs, table of King's and Queen's of England and current coinage.  This piece is in exceptional condition and is contained within its original silk lined red leather case.  Gold and precious stone Almanac Covers are extremely rare, especially with their original almanac and leather case.  A very desirable piece.
