The Spice Box is oval in form and is engraved on the cover with a cherub holding a rose below the Motto No rose without thorns. Detailed buildings and a church also appear in the background. The sides are decorated with a band of foliate motifs and each side oval lug with a flower head. The base is engraved with crisp entwined scrolls. The interior of the cover displays a charming prick dot inscription 16 Eliz Wood 98 This is a most unusually decorated box and as such this specific example is illustrated in Silver Boxes by Eric Delieb, 2002 edition, Plate 12, page 15.
