The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form with raised foliate borders.  The sides and base are decorated with engine turned designs around a vacant oblong cartouche.  The interior is finely gilded and displays a grille, intricately pierced with pluming foliate scrolls and a flower head detail.  This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked, including a sterling mark on the underside of the grille.  The cover displays a castle top view in relief of Guy's Tower, Warwick Castle, with the castle apartments to the left.  This most popular choice of view amongst nineteenth century artists was illustrated in a great many prints.  An identical box of the same date and by Taylor & Perry is shown on Plate 246, Page 152 of "Silver Boxes" by Eric Delieb.
