The Nutmeg Grater is broad rectangular in form with cut corners. Both the cover and base are engraved with unusual diamond motifs containing flower heads on a scratch engraved ground. The cover also displays a vacant oval cartouche, and the base one of the most finely concealed hinges we have ever seen on a box. The sides are also engraved with an eclectic mix of prick dot and wriggle work bands, as well as trellis work and prick dot panels.
