This spoon has a raying scallop shell bowl and a most unusually shaped handle, with beaded border, which is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. It also has a very unusual band of engraved bead work where the bowl meets the handle. The spoon is in excellent condition and is marked on both the front and reverse of the bowl. Early Sheffield silver caddy spoons are rare as the assay office only opened in 1773. This is a particular rare design and a near identical example is shown in "Caddy Spoons" by Captain John Norie, Plate 33, Fig B1.
Length: 2.5 inches, 6.25cm.
Width of bowl: 1.5 inches, 3.75cm
