A very rare George III Caddy Spoon made in Birmingham in 1809 by Cocks & Bettridge.

This exceptionally rare design has a square bowl decorated with simulated filigree bead work, with raying shells in each corner and a central medallion decorated with a raying flower head. The edge of the bowl is decorated with twisted ropework designs on a prick dot ground. The bi-furcated handle, is engraved with scale work designs and a vacant prick dot cartouche. This piece is very well marked and a near identical example is illustrated on plate 48, figure c, of "Caddy Spoons" by Captain John Norie.
Length: 2.5 inches, 6.25 cm.
Width of the bowl: 1.65 inches, 4.13 cm.
