Paul Storr did not make a large number of Wine Coasters of any size, however to find a pair of the magnum size is extremely rare. As you will see from the images, the coasters have stepped plain bases with baluster sides decorated with lobing. The sides rise to an everted rim decorated in true Paul Storr fashion, with raying shells flanked by acanthus foliage and gadrooning interspersed with anthemion motifs. The turned wooden bases are centred by a silver boss, engraved with an unusual contemporary Crest. The Coasters are in exceptional condition, with crisp decoration. They are very well marked on the bases and with the sterling mark on each boss. This is the first time we handled a pair of Magnum Coasters from the Storr workshops. They are pictured with a magnum sized bottle of champagne.
