This Salver is of an unusually smaller size and was probably used to serve drinks by footmen. This piece stands on four cast panel feet, with reeded border, and scroll ends. The main body has a raised rim which is decorated with a thread edge. The centre of the Salver is engraved with a shield shaped Armorial, with Crest above. The Arms and Crest are those of the Thomas Clark of Wark, County Northumberland, head of an old gentry family.
The Salver is in excellent condition and has a good colour. The quality is also outstanding, as would be expected from this silversmith who enjoyed the patronage of George III and his son, The Prince of Wales, later George IV.
