A fine George III Beaded Strainer made in London in 1783 by William Plummer

The Strainer is circular in form with a raised rim decorated with an appled beaded band. The bowl is pierced with entwined bands of roundels which simulate a flowerhead. The shaped side handle is decorated with reeding and stylised leaf capping. This piece has a side clip where it could be attached to the punch bowl. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked. These strainers would have been used to strain fruit into the punch bowl, however the size of this piece would lend itself to being used as a tea strainer today. William Plummer was a specialist pierced worker, who made fine strainers during this period.
