£425

The Caddy Spoon is of a large size and is one of the most finely engraved mother of pearl examples which we have seen over the years.  The front of the bowl is plain in design, with a central ridge, and the shaped handle is decorated with acanthus leaves down the side and the top displays a central leaf motif with circular fluted surround.  The reverse of the handle is decorated in the same manner as the front, however the bowl is fluted to simulate a shell and the top and centre display detailed foliate designs.  The spoon is in excellent condition and comes from the personal collection of Captain John Norie and is illustrated on Plate 107, Figure e, of "Caddy Spoons - an illustrated guide" by Captain John Norie.

Length 4.45 inches, 11.13 cm.

Width, at the widest point of the bowl: 1.85 cm.
