The Wine Coaster is circular in form with a gadrooned rim. The sides are beautifully pierced with quatrefoil motifs and also display a vacant cartouche. The Coaster displays its original fruitwood base, with central ivory boss. The Coaster is in excellent condition and is very well marked. Wine Coasters first appear in England during the 1760s, therefore this piece represents an early example of its type.
