The Tumbler Cup is of typical Scottish form with a slightly everted rim and flattened base. The edge of the rim is beautifully engraved with scroll work, shells, grapes and vines of unusual design. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Dolphin Crest below the date 1724 and the reverse with another contemporary Crest. It is our opinion that this piece was made to celebrate an earlier event in 1724. The base is very well marked and the interior displays its original gilding. The Tumbler in in excellent condition and has a good colour. Scottish Tumbler Cups were not made in large quantities and seldom appear on the market - a rare example.
