Each piece is architecturally vase shaped in form and stands on a square pedestal foot decorated with a circular band of beading. The vase shaped main bodies are decorated with a lower wide band of lobing, below raised Classical drapery swags, tied with oval paterae. Each side also displays a very detailed rams head moulding, a popular Adam Classical motif. The pull off covers are finely shaped and rise to a beaded band and lobed platform with acorn finial. The covers are all also engraved with a contemporary Crest, surrounded by a pluming scroll cartouche.
The vases are in excellent condition and are fully marked in the foot and with the maker’s mark and sterling mark on the covers. As you will appreciate unbroken sets of condiment vases are rare, as very few were made originally. The design of these pieces are almost certainly influenced by the design books of Robert Adam.
