The Vinaigrette is modelled in a slender rectangular form, the palely gilded exterior is decorated with engine turning and displaying a cast foliate scroll thumbpiece. The cover with applied gold plaque engraved with a Scottish Lion Rampant Crest with the Motto " Fracta Non Verba - Deeds not Words" above. The Crest and Motto are those as used by the Niblock-Stuart family of Montrose. The cover opens to reveal a finely gilded interior and grille pierced with engraved with pluming foliate scrolls. This piece is very well marked inside. Rawlings and Summers were premier box makers working in London during this period.
