This example was made right at the start of the production of pierced Mustard Pots, and is unusual as it is modelled in a smaller scale than is normally seen, with a miniature feel to it. The main body has a Drum form and is pierced with unusual stylised flower head motifs, enclosed by an upper and lower reeded band. The stepped, domed, cover is also decorated with reeding and the scroll handle has an unusual ribbed surface. This piece also has a very unusual cast Onslow pattern thumb piece. The Mustard Pot is in excellent condition, has a blue glass liner and is fully marked on the base. The cover is also marked with a sterling mark and makers mark. With its early date and unusual size, this is a rare desirable example.
Height: 2.5 inches, 6.25cm.
Base Diameter: 4.5 cm.
