The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form with a gadrooned border on the base and cover. The cover is finely engraved with a seated man in period costume, eating his meal, with a flask by his side. The dog loyally looks on, seated under a tree. The sides are decorated with a prick dot band and the base also displays an unusual stylised sunburst motif. The interior displays a very unusual cast grille of simulated filigree scrollwork and a central heart shaped motif. This is a rare subject matter and is illustrated in Eric Deliebs, Investing in Silver, page 113.
Length: 1.2 inches, 3cm.
