The Tea Caddy is oval in form, with an applied beaded band at the base. The sides are plain in design and the front is engraved with a navette shaped bright cut cartouche, with tied ribbons above. The cartouche contains a contemporary stag Crest, which denotes, most probably, that the original owners were of Scottish or Irish origin. The Caddy displays a key hole and original lock, as the contents were so very valuable. The stepped, domed, cover also displays a beaded band and terminates in a cast Neo Classical urn finial. The Caddy is fully marked on the base and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the inside of the cover.
Height: 5.5 inches, 13.75cm.
