A very rare George III "Onslow" pattern Caddy Spoon made in London circa 1775 by Hester Bateman

The Caddy Spoon has a scallop shell bowl and cast bi-furcated handle, unusually with an "Onslow" scroll end. The Onslow pattern is extremely rare and a near identical example is shown in "Caddy Spoons" by Captain John Norie, plate17, figure d. The Onslow pattern is not often seen and this is the first time we have seen it on a Hester Bateman Caddy Spoon, especially with a trifurcated moulding where it meets the bowl. The pattern is said to have been named after Arthur Onslow (1691-1768) - "The Great Speaker" of Parliament, The Spoon is in excellent condition and is very well marked.
Length: 2.9 inches, 7.25cm.
Width of the bowl: 1.5 inches, 3.75 cm.
