The Card Case is broad rectangular in form and displays a very rare detailed, crisp, view of St. Pauls Cathedral in high relief. The view is surrounded by scroll, flowerhead and pluming foliate decoration on a matted ground. The lower section also displays a detailed basket motif. The reverse is decoarted in a similar fashion to the front around a shaped cartouche engraved with Mrs A. Bannister. St Pauls is not a view which is seen often on card cases, especially in high relief. This example is in excellent condition, with very crisp decoration. Nathaniel Mills was the finest maker of this type of card case, at this date.
