This pretty example is modelled in an oval form and the cover and base are engraved with a central swirling band of Greek key design, flanked on either side by floral and foliate sprays.  The cover displays a vacant circular cartouche and the base a central flower head.  The sides are decorated with prick dot and wriggle work bands.  The cover opens up to reveal the steel grater and the base has a finely concealed hinge, as this is where the nutmeg would have been kept.  The Nutmeg Grater is in excellent condition and is very well marked.

Length: 1.55 inches, 3.88 cm.
