The Caddy Spoon is of the early small scallop shell form and was made, most probably in London, circa 1780. The bowl is finely modelled as a scallop shell and the small handle is beautifully inlaid with a silver pique motif, designed to simulate a stylised flower head, with sunburst surround. The tortoiseshell is beautifully shaded and a very similar example is show in Caddy Spoons by John Norie, Plate 111, figure f.
