An extremely rare set of four cast naturalistic Serving Spoons made in London in 1839 by Charles Fox

The Spoons are cast and modelled in the rare naturalistic style. The stems are decorated with scrolls and foliate designs, and Rococo shell details all on a matted ground. The top of the stem displays a tear drop cartouche engraved with a contemporary Crest. The bowls are modelled to simulate shells, with gilded surface on the front and matted on the back. These were almost certainly used to serve the dessert course and Charles Fox was an exceptional maker who specialised in these unusual quality designs. The archive displays an extremely rare Preserve spoon by the same maker in a similar pattern. Charles Fox was one of the last great Georgian maker's of quality, before the onset of Victorian mass production.
