The Saucepan stands on an applied spreading foot decorated with reeding.  The circular body has an unusual flared form, definitely a provincial take on the London designs, with applied everted rim.  The silver tubular section of the handle is attached to the main body with a pretty heart shaped moulding and the other end is made of beautifully turned fruitwood.  The side of the main body is also engraved with the contemporary initials of the original owner "S.V" above the date 1773. The Saucepan is in excellent condition and is very well marked in the foot, twice, with the distinctive maker's mark of RB.   This piece is of a good gauge of silver, good colour and displays the interior hammer marks from when it was raised. Saucepans are an item which were hardly made in any quantity in the West Country and examples are very rare, seldom coming onto the market.

Height: 2.5 inches, 6.25 cm.

Diameter at the rim: 4.5 inches, 11.25 cm.

Weight: 10oz.
