The Teapot has an oval form with a beaded rim and base.  The sides are engraved with an upper and lower band of bright cut designs, including stylised flower heads and each side is decorated with a bright cut navette shaped cartouche with tied ribbons above,  The straight spout is engraved with a wriggle work band at the top and the fruit wood scroll handle is attached to the main body with reeded tubular sockets.  The high domed cover is a rare design from the Hester Bateman workshops and terminates in a pineapple finial, a symbol of wealth and status at this date.  The edge of the cover is also engraved with the pretty bright cut, and prick dot, designs which are seen on the sides.  The teapot is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the base and with the makers's mark and sterling mark on the cover.  The base also displays its original assay slither from when it was marked.
