The Candlesticks unusually display oval bases which are decorated with bat wing fluting and beading as well as tiny stylised roundels which are threaded together to form a shaped band at the edge of the fluting. The main shaft and socket are also decorated with bat wing designs. The top of the shaft and the nozzles are decorated with additional bands of tiny roundels. The socket is engraved with a contemporary Crest issuing from the Coronet of a Duke and the base is loaded with mahogany. This is a most unusual design, as are the decorative designs. Both pieces are well marked, on the bases and the nozzles, and are in excellent condition.
