The Pepper stands on a circular pedestal foot which is chased with floral and foliate sprays. The baluster shaped body is also beautifully chased with Rococo designs including scrolls, shells and floral and foliate motifs. The front displays a vacant scroll cartouche. The pull off cover terminates in an artichoke finial, and is chased with flower heads and pierced with comma motifs. The pepper is in excellent condition and has a finely gilded interior. This piece is fully marked on the main body and the rim of the cover. This is the first time we have seen this specific design and the quality is most outstanding. It is also a larger size than is normally seen.
