An unusual George III Cream Pail made in London in 1779 by Burrage Davenport

The Cream Pail stands on a square pedestal foot decorated with engraved drapery swags and medallions, as well as a circular band of laurel leaves. The vase shaped main body has a beaded rim and is pierced with vertical Neo-Gothic pails and roundels. The main body also displays a wide lower band of acanthus spears, as well as drapery swags and oval medallions decorated with flower heads. The front of the main body also displays an oval disc engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. This unusual example has a blue glass liner and twisted ropework handle. The pail is in excellent condition and is fully marked up inside the foot. Burrage Davenport was a specialist pierced worker and his mark can be found on baskets, coasters and mustard pots, of fine quality, made during this period.
