These very beautiful dishes stand on two winkle feet and the main body is finely modelled as a scallop shell.  The carrying handle has a very unusual laurel leaf border, with tri-furcated motif at the top.  The raised cartouche is also surrounded by a crossed laurel garland and is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The Shells are both in excellent condition and are very well marked on the reverse.

Aldridge & Green were in partnership from 1775 until 1786 and occupied workshops at 62, St. Martin’s Le Grand when these shells were made.  They were known for their quality of design and production.
