£1,550

Antique silver Table Forks from Scotland are extremely scarce, however if found usually bear Edinburgh marks. To find a set with Glasgow Marks is extremely unusual.  The forks we offer are modelled in a very angular version of the fiddle pattern and are of a very good gauge and weight.  Each is well marked and each is engraved with an unusual Scottish Crest with the Motto “ Optime Quod Opportune – What is done opportunely is best”.  The Crest and Motto is that as used by the Campbell family, specifically the branch at Netherplace, Ayrshire.  They were probably made for William Campbell of Netherplace (1779-1843).

The opportunity to acquire Scottish Forks from this date seldom happens are these are  very desirable and are in excellent condition.  These were formerly in the collection of our founder, Mrs Mary Cooke.

Length: 8.45 inches, 21.13 cm.
