The Toothpick Case is modelled in a slender broad rectangular form with canted corners.  The sides are engraved with trailing foliage and flower heads in each corner.  The base is beautifully decorated with a sunburst panel around an oval floral medallion, with floral sprays at each end.  This is all contained within a bright cut frame.  The cover displays a finely concealed hinge and is also decorated with crisp floral sprays on a scratch engraved ground with a central circular cartouche containing a set of contemporary script initials.  As with the base, this is contained within an outer bright cut frame.  The box is in quite outstanding condition and is fully marked on the base in the decoration.
