The Wine Coasters are modelled in the unusual "Bottle" size which is very seldom seen.  We have had two single coasters of this size over the past fifty years, such are their rarity.  To find a pair is most unusual.  As you will see from the images, the Coasters are circular in form with reeded rims and bases.  The sides are beautifully pierced with Neo Gothic arch work, in addition to beautiful sections of foliate scroll work and flower heads in bloom.  The sides are also decorated with crisp bright cut designs.  The front also displays a circular disc cartouche, engraved with a contemporary Crest.  Both pieces have their original turned fruitwood bases and are in excellent condition.  They are fully marked on the base of each.  Michael Plummer was the son of William Plummer and, like his father, he was an exceptional pierced worker and his pieces are always of the finest standard in terms of both design and production.  He had workshops at 35, Noble Street when these rare pieces were made.

Height: 1.25 inches, 3.13 cm.
