An exceptionally fine early George III Cast Sauceboat made in London in 1763 by John Swift.

The Sauceboat stands on an oval collet foot, decorated with gadrooning. The main body is of a large size and has a pronounced pouring spout decorated with gadrooning. The partly hooded section at the rear of the main body has a shaped edge and is decorated with scrolls. The scroll handle has a leaf capped top and the side of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by scrolls and floral sprays. This example is fully marked under the lip of the spout. John Swift was a quality maker who made extremely fine Sauceboats of this attractive design.
