An exceptional pair of early George III Cast Sauceboats made in London in 1767 by Parker & Wakelin.

The Sauceboats are cast and are of exceptional quality and weight. Both stand on an oval, pedestal, collet foot, decorated with gadrooning interspersed with stylised foliate motifs. The baluster shaped body rises to a gadrooned rim, interspersed with bold scrolls. The very unusual cast swirling scroll handles, are decorated with leaf capping and foliate mouldings where they are attached to the main body. Both are of a substantial size and are very well marked on the side of the foot. The front of each sauceboat is engraved with an unusual contemporary family Crest and both are in excellent condition, with fine patina.
The workshops of Parker and Wakelin produced very fine piece, of innovative design and outstanding quality. With this in mind, they enjoyed the patronage of both George III and his son, The Prince of Wales.
