The Snuff Box is modelled in a deep broad rectangular form with hardstone cover, base and sides made from a most unusual red shaded agate, seldom seen on boxes. The gold mounts are also of a most unusual wavy design and the thumb piece is modelled as a pretty raying Rococo shell. The agate has been carved with a step on the base and cover, a sign of quality of design and production and the cover opens up to reveal a beautifully shaded interior. The box and mounts are in excellent condition.
