A very rare pair of George III Breakfast Dishes made in London in 1781 by Robert Jones.

The Dishes have raised rims which are decorated with a beaded band. Both have two side carrying handles and the centre is engraved with a contemporary Crest. Both pieces are very well marked on the reverse. Robert Jones was a specialist salver maker and was for some time in partnership with John Schofield. He had workshops at 40, Bartholomew Close, when these dishes were made. He died in January, 1783, when the business was taken over by his widow, Elizabeth. This type of dish is extremely rare and this is the first time we have ever offered a pair. We have only had single examples over the years. These dishes are called breakfast or bacon dishes, however some believe that they had a variety of uses on the dining table.
